About our AI intake assistant

What it is, what it asks, and who reads it.

WHAT IT IS

An AI, not a lawyer

It tells you it is an AI before you type a word. It is not a lawyer, talking with it does not make you our client, and it gives no legal advice about your situation or anyone else’s.

No story, please

It asks only the type of matter, whether there is a deadline, whether you are a new or returning client, and how you would like us to reach you. It never asks what happened or who the other side is. We take those names by phone for our conflict check.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

An attorney reads it

Conversations are recorded, and an attorney reviews your intake before anyone calls you back.

Danger or a deadline

If you are in danger, call 911. If court papers give you a deadline, call the office the same day at (804) 555-0187. The assistant cannot work out or extend a deadline.

After a death

An estate does not always need probate or executor qualification. For general Chesterfield information, contact the Circuit Court Clerk’s Probate Division at [email protected]; questions: 804-706-7680. Staff review the required information before scheduling an appointment, and an original will is brought to the appointment when applicable. An attorney must review which steps apply to your situation. The first 15-minute call is free for fit and next steps; estate-administration work is quoted in writing after the first meeting.

If you have been served

Court papers come with a response deadline, so call the same day. Bring the papers to your consultation. We will tell you your deadline after an attorney reads them; nobody here calculates it for you in advance.

Closing on a home

In Virginia the buyer has the right to choose the settlement agent, and the seller cannot require a particular one (Va. Code § 55.1-1006). Send us the ratified contract and your lender’s contact; ten days is usually enough time.

Before any consultation we run a conflict check, which means asking for the names of the other people involved. We do that by phone, never in a chat or a web form. Nothing you share before you hire us creates an attorney–client relationship, but we keep it confidential regardless.

MATTER No. 2026-104 — INTAKE OPEN

Start with a free 15-minute call

Call the office, or open the AI intake. It knows our published fees and first steps, and passes your request to an attorney for a call back. It is not a lawyer and does not give legal advice.

What this looks like for a real firm

The small-firm sites we reviewed ask a worried person to fill in a form and wait. This assistant answers right away, at any hour. It says from its first line that it is an AI, never gives legal advice, and asks for no case details. For your firm, its first line also says it is not a lawyer and that talking with it does not make anyone a client, and we set it to take only what a conflict check needs: the caller’s name, the other people involved, the type of matter and a callback number, or no names at all if you take them by phone, as this firm does. Conversations are recorded so a lawyer at your firm can review them, and we agree with you at setup how they reach that lawyer. Connecting it to your practice-management software is a separate, quoted step.

Today

  1. A new caller reaches the front desk while you are in court.
  2. They leave a message, or they call the next firm on the list.
  3. By the time someone calls back, they may have hired someone else.

With an AI receptionist

  1. Answered right away, at any hour, by an assistant that says it is an AI.
  2. It takes the matter type and how urgent it is, and never gives legal advice or asks for case facts.
  3. Your team gets a short intake to review and return the call.

What missed calls cost you

Example numbers. Change them to yours.

About $8,660 a month in new clients that reached voicemail instead of you. The receptionist is $249 a month, so it pays for itself at 1 new client a month.
